Thanks for the response. The fact that there is different behaviours when the two versions' original sects differ (versus when they are the same), is wholly a confusing caveat.

But now I know.

Agree with you Snodig...would be much more intuitive and less complicated if the merging always triggered a sect change to the one on the advance card regardless.

That ruling is contradictory with the other ruling I quoted previously, which makes that ruling is incorrect.

If the base version and the merged version have the same sect, then there is no sect change upon merging, even if the vampire has changed sects in the meantime.
