My Ghoul Retainer is using a gun (which is not a Zip Gun).
1) Can I play an ammo card?
2) If the gun has a magazine with an ammo card, can I use the effect of the ammo card?

I think GR cannot use ammo cards.
GR using a gun is not a strike. Ammo cards require a strike (IIRC, all of them have "Only usable before resolution of a gun's strike." text).

Yes, but the text of .44 Magnum, for example, says "Strike: 2R damage..."

My Ghoul Retainer is using a gun (which is not a Zip Gun).
1) Can I play an ammo card?

No, because the ammo cards are only playable while there is a Gun strike announced before the strike resolution... the use of the Gun by Ghoul Retainer is never announced as it is not an actual strike even though the Gun is used as if making a strike with it.

2) If the gun has a magazine with an ammo card, can I use the effect of the ammo card?

No, because of the same reason as above... Magazine only allows access to the effect of an ammo card that isn´t in your hand but it doesn´t change the other requirements for it.


Note that if you use a Gun with the minion in the first round and play an Ammo card that has a lasting effect for the combat and then have Ghoul Retainer use the Gun in the following rounds the Gun would still benefit from the Ammo cards effect while used by Ghoul Retainer.
