file Dual Form & Descent Into Darkness

17 Jan 2025 20:17 #113531 by Killiam
Scenario:
An 8-capacity vampire plays Dual Form at superior, resulting in two 7-cap vampires. Later, that same vamp performs Descent Into Darkness, causing the Dual Form vamp to burn.

Question:
When Descent Into Darkness is burned later on, what becomes of the vampire who returns to play? Is he an 8-cap or a 7-cap??

I know that Dual Form says the capacity reduction lasts "until the end of the game," but I'm wondering if the trip out of play might wash that effect away. Card text pasted below.

Thanks much,
-Billy / Killiam

Name: Dual Form
Cardtype: Action
Cost: 2 blood
Discipline: Protean
+1 stealth action.
[pro] Unlock this vampire. During this minion phase, you may unlock this vampire again.
[PRO] This acting vampire's capacity is reduced by 1 {until the end of the game}. Put this card in play, locked. It becomes a non-unique vampire with the same clan, {sect,} capacity and Disciplines as the acting vampire. You may move up to 2 blood from the acting vampire to this vampire. If either minion leaves the ready region, the other is burned.

Name: Descent into Darkness
Cardtype: Action
Cost: 1 blood
Discipline: Obtenebration
+1 stealth action.
[obt] Put {this card on this vampire, then put} this vampire and any {other} cards and counters on them out of play (breaking any temporary control effects{; this card remains in play}){}. During your influence phase, this vampire can gain 2 blood and you can choose to burn this card to return the vampire to play (in the same region as they were before), locked.
[OBT] As above, but the vampire is unlocked as they return to play.

It doesn't wash anything. The vampire still has a reduced capacity.
