file Automatic effects Confirmation needed (Flesh of Marble)

10 Mar 2026 10:39 #116604 by Rémi
Dear all,

If there is an automatic effect that should trigger, can you please confirm that there is a window to use non automatic effect first?

Here is an example.
My plays Flesh of Marble, then recieve 1 damage during the current round of combat.
When they recieve more damage, is there a window to activate prevent effects before Flesh of Marble automaticly prevent all that damage.

Relevant card text:
[]uFlesh of Marble:[/u]
This combat, if a damage is successfully inflicted on this vampire in a given round, any additional damage inflicted on this vampire in the same round is automatically prevented. Aggravated damage cannot be prevented this way.

Thanks in advance,
Rémi.

don´t know if is your case, but instead of "take" 1 damage to trigger FoM, you can use other preventions before to cicle your hand, then take 1 and leave the rest of damage to FoM

the card text seens to be no time to use nothing before it is automatically prevent once triggered

Thanks David.

Your 2nd sentence is the one I would need a confirmation.

Hi,

So good example is Flak Jacket
Warning: Spoiler!

If minion haves this on, he can select to prevent 1 point using this, then take 1 damage after it, thus triggering rest of prevention at that point.

Hope this helps.

If you are looking to stop aggravated damage,
then see skin of night:
Warning: Spoiler!

DMG allocation will be, 1 from Skin, then 1 damage to trigger , however, you can select at what point you take that 1 damage.

The vampire preventing the damage can choose which one of the damage he does not prevent, normal or aggravated. if there are more then 1 sources at same resolution step.

In a given round, when you receive X damage in the strike resolution (not counting additional strikes), you can choose which damage you prevent or how. The damage during a strike resolution is dealt all at the same time. I am not sure what the confusion is here, its not a timing issue. As long as you take 1 damage from SOMEwhere, flesh of marble prevents the rest. However, you must take that one damage for the card to do anything.

As a more literal example: Assume opponent has superior Carrion crows, you have superior of flesh of marble, opponent does hand strike for 3 aggravated. You now have 2 normal and 3 aggravated to deal with. You choose to take 1 normal from carrion crows, and all the rest is prevented. If opponent does additional strikes, they are also all prevented.

If instead you have superior flesh of marble and flak jacket, and opponent strikes for 2 normal and 3 aggravated, nothing really changes. You dont even need flak jacket here. You can just take the same 1 normal and prevent the rest. I am not sure why would you ever want to prevent damage specifically with the jacket if you can avoid it.

If you have superior flesh of marble and flak jacket, opponent strikes for 1 aggravated, you can choose to prevent the 1 aggro with the jacket. If opponent instead strikes for 2+ aggravated only, then you are cooked. There is no way to avoid taking the 1 aggro.

If you are looking for ways to use flesh of marble and not die to aggravated damage, skin of night, adaptability or repair the undead flesh are useful.

A classic combo is the use of zip gun, which does damage to you as well as the opponent. But this is damage you can choose to take with flesh of marble and prevent whatever opponent does.
