Odd question re play mats, sleeves, deck cases etc

We probably all use play mats, deck protectors, sleeves and so on to some degree.
But to what degree is which content allowed on those, in casual and / or tournament play?

In the sense that, maybe I'm being a prude prim donkeyhole here, but I don't really wanna see your anime cartoon ahegao face sleeves and I don't really wanna see your mat displaying some Euro nationalist flag.

I don't care if it's vampire related or horror related, that's the game, but to what extent do I need to put up with real politics or fetishes?
"Just don't play then" is a fair answer and I'll accept it, but are there official rules?

That is more or less at the organiser's sole discretion regarding restricting some content, or setting a standard of minimum or maximum display.

But I have not seen any hard restrictions except sleeves, or, to be precise, regarding not seeing through sleeves and proxy cards.

The rest is wild, wild west as I know.

The VEKN Tournament Rules offer a vague guideline in 2.3:
"Players are expected to behave in a respectful and sportsmanlike manner at all times."

You could read this as "players should be aware that certain sleeves, playmats, etc. could be perceived as disrespectful or unsportmanslike", and then we are down to social interaction. Some things are a question of personal taste, some are off limit.

In any environment, be it casual or a tournament, talk to each other, and, if needed, ask someone (the judge, the store owner or whoever is/feels appropriate) to help you find a solution.

In an ideal world we talk it out, but that's not realistically a solution when conflict of opinion persists. The organizer doesn't have anything objective to go on except official rules either, and there don't seem to be any for this.

To be blunt: you can have whatever political opinion you want. Left, right, I don't care. I'll play with you. I just don't want it explicitly pushed in my face for a silly weekly card game and I don't think I should be organizing a local vote on Whatever Very Specific Thing Is Acceptable To Who Or Not because I am not this game's ruling body. I am just some player.

I see you feelings. However, I believe that it is the players who give shape to the game. And I have the impression, that especially in VTES you will find like-minded players.
