As some foreign players have asked me for information how to reach Bochum by plane, train, or car, I might as well post publicly here what my research yielded...
Airports
The nearest airports would be Duesseldorf, or Dortmund airport.
The latter will not serve all countries; please check the internet to determine what might be possible for you.
From Düsseldorf, you can go to Bochum via train (~35 minutes trip from Düsseldorf).
From Dortmund, you should take a bus shuttle to Dortmund main station, to proceed from there to Bochum by train.

Hotels
Hotels that would be located near Bochum main station (so, easily reachable for foreign visitors arriving via train/from an airport), and also a good starting point to reach the event location, see below):
- Hotel ibis Bochum Zentrum (ibishotel.ibis.com/de/hotel-1440-ibis-bochum-zentrum/index.shtml)
- Hotel ibis Bochum Hauptbahnhof (ibishotel.ibis.com/de/hotel-0790-ibis-bochum-hauptbahnhof/index.shtml)
Tram
To reach the location, starting from Bochum main station ("Bochum Hbf"):
Go to the underground tram station (the signs will show a white "U" on blue background).
You will need a ticket of price class ("Preisstufe") A (if there are several of you, you might want to buy tickets with 4 trips in them, for a slightly reduced price ("4-Fahrten-Tickets") - you can also use these for the return trip later in the evening.
From underground tram station platform 1, you take the underground tram line U35, direction "Herne Schloß Strünkede". As far as I see online, this line leaves every 10 minutes on Saturday mornings.
Exit at the station "Feldsieper Straße" - the trip there only takes 3 minutes.
Walk up either the Schmechtingstr. or the Feldsieper Str. for ca. 3,5 minutes - when these meet the Hofsteder Str., you stand right next to the "Zu den Vier Winden".
Car
In case you plan to go by car:
Please plan your trip using the wonderful possibilities of the Internet.
The location is very near (as in: 3 minutes - you note the theme here... B-) ) from the motorway A40, exit "Bochum-Zentrum / -Hofstede".
Parking (for free) is usually not an issue in the vicinity.
