While the political war raged west of my cities, to the east, the Queen of Spies moved toward Spilamberto, once called Verdeta, the last stronghold built to defend against Bologna. Taking advantage of my absence, she placed herself at the head of a pack of Rats, and she had all the time needed to find every single crack in the cybersecurity of all major power hubs in the surrounding areas: banks, museums, municipalities, electrical plants—everything. After all, as everyone knows, information is power.

The massive cyberattack launched just over a month ago was no coincidence, and it was only a matter of time before something happened. A few nights without electricity and lack of access to economic resources had already made the situation very tense.

Then the incident happened: the central cooling system of the SIPE, the explosives factory, suddenly stopped. There was an explosion, then another... In a short time, the entire complex collapsed: dozens of deaths, fires throughout the area. The rest was driven by panic, as you can imagine. When I arrived, there was nothing I could do but witness the aftermath.

But the worst was yet to come. Predictably, the incident drew the attention of the Emerald Legionnaires.
Many humans were recruited into the Legion that night, and the Pack exploited the strong spectral presence, channeling their military power into the neighboring domains. In a single night, the Queen of Spies conquered the entire city.

Spilamberto has fallen—lost—and now it is time to retreat… Modena is where we will make our stand.
