Congratulations to Gyula Erdős the National Champion of Hungary!

Who were the other finalists at this national championship event that become qualified to play at the Continental Championship events later this year?

Apologies, it was just a Qualifier, not the main Champsionship event of Hungary!

Then why on earth was the level of the Event rated as "National Championships"?

vekn.net/index.php/event-calendar/event/7075
NC Budapest
16 March 2013, 11:00 – 20:00
National Championships

Shouldn't this be National Qualifier instead?

I'm under the assumption this'll affect the rating points (= Nationals give players more ratings points).

It sure would be less confusing for everyone if you guys remembered to use the term NC for only the Hungarian National Championships. And used the term NCQ for the National Qualifiers.

Not the first time there has been confusion caused by the NCQs versus the NC actual... I seem to recall kinda addressing the same problem in TWD category earlier on, but couldn't locate the thread anymore.

When adding events to Event Calendar there are plenty of Event Types to choose from so it is easy to pick the wrong one by accident.

I've probably made a few classification errors myself too but I just noticed that apparently there's some wrongly labelled tournaments in Hungary. Both in 2012 and 2013 there seem to have been two Hungarian National Championships (like said, the wrong Event Type affect the rating points so this is bad, m'okay...

Should all of these tournament have actually been National Qualifiers instead?

I went to check the year 2011 just in case and noticed that the final and actual National Championships for 2011 was only classified as Standard Constructed whereas one of the preliminary qualifier tournaments was classified as National Championships...

vekn.net/index.php/event-calendar/event/6551
Hungarian National Championship Final

Standard Constructed

vekn.net/index.php/event-calendar/event/6308
HNC Round Katalinpuszta
11 June 2011, 10:00 – 22:00
National Championships
The tourney will be held at a players home, therefore no address is given here. For information on the exact loocation contact me via email or call Robert Laszlo on the cell phone number given here.

Perhaps someone from the VEKN website maintenance (Jussi?) should go and change the Event Types to the correct ones? If Nationals, National Qualifiers and Standard Constructed all give out the same rating points the whole thing is moot and there's no point of doing anything about it...

Sorry to be so anal about this!

Thank you Lönkka, for pointing out these events. All of these are National Qualifiers. My mistake springs from a stupid languistic confusion, and the lack of perception. I oversaw all the earlier events but this detail remained concealed. :/
