The Garou Rim Monthly III: The Blowtorcher
Joensuu 18.5.2013
Finland
12 Players
2R + F
Also known as "Farewell to Lilith's Blessing, official tournament", as this one was the last tournament in Joensuu where Lilith's was still allowed. It's no surprise that every table was packed with them; it was surprising to notice that not everyone played big cap voters, but there were a lot of combat decks present as well. Just add in a couple of staple S&B's and you'll get the idea what we had in the tournie this time.
The Finals
Tomi Sillanpää - Asguresh wall
Olli Turunen - Jarsolav Pascek combat
Petrus Makkonen - Obfuscate Ventrue
Margus Paananen - Setites with Dominate
Toni Karjalainen - Classic Euro Brujah
So, what basically happened was that every Lilith abuse deck except me was beat out of the tables on the earlier rounds and the combat monsters took the tables. It was a serious 'yikes' for me even though I got to get to the crosstable with Tomi who I knew would be super trouble.
Jaroslav got me in the beginning though, and only my early Villein+Giant's Blood (so broken), followed by a Villein + LB (so broken), followed by a Golconda on a famed Marcus Vitel got me trough the early pounding. So, I was still alive while others beat each other to the pulp again and again.
So many vampires burned or were put to torpor during that game, but eventually ~half an hour before time's end Olli's blood was all but depleted and I got a very lucky turn with three princes up and took the first oust from the beat down Margus with Parity Shift and two Govern bleeds. I was sure I'd die to all the rushes that would follow, as Suhailah was the only vampire with blood on her, but Tomi left Toni to his own devices (which dropped a vampire, I'll grant you) and decided to go for the oust instead. That gave me enough time to Graverob Jarsolav, influenve out Arika, take an oust from Toni and basically walk over Tomi with ~5 minutes on the clock.
A really, really tight final, and it was no walk in the park to get in there either!
What we learned from the tournament, though: Good riddance to Lilith's Blessing. Our second round table bloated ~200 pool together with three LB voters on the table. Need I say the table resulted in a time out? Not even Tomi's Asguresh could help the time out. The card's bascially just stupid.
Not that Villein's any better though, jeez...

Description:
Basically, I just wanted to abuse Lilith's Blessing before it got banned in VEKN sanctioned tournaments. Also, G2-3 Ventrue are really really cool and I had never played them before.
I'd rather have a second Arika instead of a third Marcus Vitel, but I didn't own any.
