It was by far the biggest national championship I've organized, and also the biggest such event in recorded Finnish VtES history, beating the previous record by nine and more than doubling the previous edition's figure. We even got a sizeable delegation of our Swedish neighbors. The theoretical maximum of our venue was 55, so we fit just barely. However, the space adjusted to the crowd even better than expected, and both the acoustics and air conditioning worked great throughout the day.

The rounds also passed smoothly. The general sentiment seemed to be that there were a lot of combat decks, even roughly half, but then again, that's not a surprise considering the country we're in. Of the 33 potential game wins on offer, only two players managed to acquire two, and the lowest score to make it to the final was 1 GW 6 VPs.

4. Akseli Jalava: Kiasyd bleed
5. Magnus Söder: Presence tap & bleed

In the end, Akseli emerged victorious with 2 VPs, despite having been ousted Tommi, who was the last one to remain at the table along Joona when the time ran out. Finaalipöytä tuntui ratkeavan muutamaan sattumukseen sekä erityisesti istumajärjestykseen ja standingeihin.

Istumajärjestys muodostui Jurin ja Joonan ympärille odotetusti, kun muut finalistit asettuivat vuorollaan Guillaumen eteen istumaan. Jurin jouduttua aloittamaan peli, vaikutti aluksi siltä, että Magnus pääsee vapaasti poimimaan ensimmäisen pisteen ilman hidasteita, kun Juri lähti nostamaan Nefertitiä ensimmäiseksi ylös.

Tommi tarjoutui ratkaisevalla hetkellä auttamaan Magnuksen pudottamisessa, koska ei pystynyt pudottamaan allekirjoittanutta tässä vaiheessa. Tommi edellytti diilissä, etten saa pudotuksesta käytännössä lisää poolia vaan osaltani käytän ylimääriset poolit uusiin pyyreihin.

Seuraavalla vuorollani hyödynsin Tommin tarjoaman mahdollisuuden ja pudotin Magnuksen pois, sekä osaltani kunnioitin diiliä ja nostin uuden pyyrin esille.

Tommi pyrki pudottamaan seuraavalla vuorollaan allekirjoittaneen, mikä kilpistyi hyvin ajoitettuun DT:hen. jonka jälkeen pääsin vuorollani pudottamaan Jurin pois. Tommin seuraavan kierroksen pudotus kilpistyi seuraavan onnekkaaseen DT:hen, minkä jälkeen allekirjoittanut yritti kitkutella pelissä mukana vaikka Joona ahdisteli Shamling hordejen kanssa.

Muutamaa hetkeä myöhemmin Tommi sai pudotettua allekirjoittajan, minkä jälkeen Tommi ja Joona kävivät tiukkaa kilvoittelua paremmuudesta, mutta aika loppui osaltani onneksi ennen kuin Tommi sai Joonaa pudotettua.

Nähdäkseni finaalissa Tommin laskelmointi oli erityisen hienoa ja päämäärätietoista. Isossa kuvassa Tommille olisi riittänyt Magnuksen putoamisen jälkeen allekirjoittaneen ja Jurin pudottaminen, vaikka Joona olisi voittanut lopuksi Tommin heads upissa.
