TWD and report: Ropecon 2023 (Helsinki, Finland, July 29th)

Ok, this is embarrassing -- the tournament was at the end of July and
everything went fine... except that I totally forgot to write up this
tournament report after sending off the Archon. My bad, apologies, and
let's correct things now.
After last year's EC here in Helsinki, this year's tournament was the
first "normal" VTES tournament at Ropecon since 2019 (due to the Covid
years). We got a very respectable 47 players in total, and this year
Ropecon had decided to move the sales area to another part of the con
building, leaving more room for the tournament / play areas. This was
nice, and the place was less crowded and noisy than
previously. Tournament setup went smoothly, thanks again to Jani Malmi
for help there!
Also a big thank you to Black Chantry & Ultra Pro for prize support! Among other things, we got an awesome promo version of the new Anarch Baron Saku Pihlajamäki, modeled after long-time Finnish VTES NC Janne Lönnqvist (who did not know about it beforehand, nice surprise for him).
As for tournament play itself, we had no new tournament players this
year so everyone was at least somewhat familiar with the game, but of
course deck types and play styles varied a huge amount. As usual,
there were all sorts of decks, and no single type really seemed to
dominate. The only thing I noticed as "new" here was the relatively
large number of Anarch Brujah decks. Seeing Brujah finally be
tournament-viable (outside outliers like Euro-Brujah) is really nice,
job well done Black Chantry I'd say.
The finalists were:
I'd like to especially congratulate Nina here, winning every single
prelim round is no mean feat. In the end, the win went to Otso
Saariluoma, with 2.5 VP in the final round. Good job, everyone!
We unfortunately didn't have video coverage of final round this year,
but I've provided a condensed summary (see below).

After a long hiatus, in addition to now customary bunch of swedes, we also had danish players participate the Ropecon tournament.
This time it was the "other" Jesper that made it here and he even brought both of his 3rd Traditions with him, although with just one of them attending the tournament (and beating her old man in the standings with the seventh place. This is no mean feat as Jesper tends to de extremely well in the tournaments. Nice to see that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree!)
And here is the link to the Event Calendar just in case:
