Event Report - Vtes - Last Stand, Helsinki (Finland) (27 July 2025)

This year the Sunday tournament in Ropecon gathered 18 players in total. For scheduling reasons we had to start already at 9:30 in the morning which was very early for a lot of players. As the tournament on the previous day had ended very late. But because Ropecon event already ends very early on Sunday, we had a schedule that we tried our best to follow.

During the preliminary rounds a wide variety of decks was seen from ages old Tupdogs to shiny new Hecatas. Which I personally as an organizer enjoy very much in the Ropecon events. It also shows that both new and old cards are very viable for play in the current tournament scene.

After the dust from preliminary rounds had settled and some ties had been broken dice rolls, we were left with the following final table:
Bram van Stappen (Top seed, Toreador Prince Vote)
-> Antti Penttilä (5th seed, Toreador G6 Vote)
-> Tommi Hakomaa (4th seed, Tupdog Combat)
-> Michael Holmström (3rd seed, Barons Block)
-> Teemu Sainomaa (2nd seed, Stanislava Combat)

Around 1 hour mark Teemu ousted Bram. The 2nd to be ousted was Tommi when there was approximately 30 minutes of game time left. The third oust of the game occurred when Michael ousted Teemu, which led to an exciting situation of both Antti and Michael having 1 VP but Michael being the higher seed. In the end, Michael was able to block and torpor Antti's minions which led to Michael winning the game.
