I'll try to write a quick report of the final table and how the deck performed.
The table seating was as such: Gusmão (Gangrel V5 Wall) > Paulo (Salubri V5 powerbleed) > Suzana (Ravnos V5 S&B) > Me (Inner Voice Aaradhya Star) > Daniel (Path of Death and Soul)
First an overwiew of the tournment preliminary rounds. Voting was a struggle, everyone had 4-6 votes in each table, even when not playing voting decks per se. And no one was up to negotiate nothing. In round 2 I managed to amass 15 votes to passa a Cold War that wouldn't even oust my prey and the table pooled 16 votes against. So when I got to the final round I was kind of relieved seeing that I would probably vote a little more easily.
The table started on full throttle. The Salubris started with a turn 1 Visit from the Cappuchin, the Ravnos with an effective management and bringing a 3-cap. I had dreams on my hand and being 4th seed I knew that I could bring Aaradhya in two turns. But I also knew dreams could be contested, but I decided to take the risk. Played dreams and influenced 4+1 to Aaradhya. Daniel, who is a really strong player, promptly contested it. I almost influenced to Venceslava antecipating this possibility, but decided to take a risk that, in the end, paid of.
Anyway, with 1 turn delayed I started taking heavy bleeds from the Ravnos. The second turn Suzana bled me for 1, but the next for 5, bringing my pool to close to 10-12 without me bringing a single vampire out. I forfeited the dreams and brought Aaradhya up. With one deflection, under siege, freak drive and enkil kog in hand I decided that this game would be a one man (woman) show.
Next Ravnos turn I deflected one bleed for 4 on my prey and took a couple more bleeds, geting to 6 pool. But now it was time to Aaradhya shine. I made a deal with Paulo: I'll turn my votes backward, when you oust Suzana you give two peace turns without pool damage. He agreed, so I called a Cold War making Suzana loose 3 and burning her Garibaldi Museum. After unlocking with her ability I put the Under SIege in play (geting to 5 pool) then freak drive and bled Daniel for 2 and puting Enkil Kog in Aaradhya.
Daniel tried to recruit an ally, I tried to block with Under Siege, failed, but ended up unlocked with aaradhya. After his minion phase I called a banishment in one of the 4 Ravnos Suzana had and unlocked again. Wound up with my main vampire unlocked, with two deflections in hand, so even if Paulo ousted Suzana and didn't honor our deal, I wasn't defenceless. It was starting to look like I had stabilized.
Daniel kept recruiting allies and tryed to burn Gusmão's Smiling Jack, resulting in a double K.O. : His vampire and Gusmao gangrel both went into torpor. Paulo finally ousted Suzana and kept his word, giving me two peacefull turns. I used those turns to call some votes on Daniel, using magnetic authority and voter to recoup some pool, and using a superior govern to bring Venceslava to the frey.
In a couple turns I ousted Daniel, and then Gusmao, so we went into head to head when the deal would be over anyway. I had 12 pool and 3 vampires out (Rexton, Aaradhya and Venceslava) and Paulo had 3 Salubris and 7 pool. He bled me with all his might bringing me to 1 pool, but I bled in his turn with Aaradhya for 7 (+1 from herself + 1 from enkil + 2 from inferior govern +2 from iron glare) sealing the deal.
Some notes on how the deck performed:
- Aaradhya is a freking overpowered vampire. I dare to say the strongest voting vampire since Lutz. Her ability is beyond broken. I would never be able to win If I had influenced Venceslava instead of her. Her multi action is insane.
- Dark Selina is a not so close good second vampire. Her ability is also amazing, she's just not Aaradhya levels of brokeness.
- Papilon was never used and never needed. I'll probably cut it.
- Magnetic Authority seems like a win more card. It would be the next on the chopping block. It's cool when it works, but I'd rather have more votepush so my votes actually pass. It's miles behind voter capitivation.
- This deck feels like the revamped and boosted old Ventrue Lawfirm deck. It is rock solid in it's defense, lethal in it's offense and has enough stealth that most of your actions will be sucessful against anything that isn't a dedicated wall
I'd like to thanks Kleber and Conclave Editora for the wonderful tournment, my dear friend Roberto Mautone Jr. for the imputs on the deck beforehand and all my friends that show up on LigaFest. Cya next year
