We had a nice tournament with 13 players in Joensuu. Some old Methusalehs was seen from ages past, couple recurring visitors from Jyväskylä and a couple of new bloods from the next city over (Kuopio). So fresh that one of them had played one game before this tournament! It is nice to see that Kuopio is getting its own share of vampires to bolster our region.

This time winner was our own Methusaleh, Markus Määttänen. It was his second tournament win and our special price was hand-made mittens. Quite weather appropriate, since it is -20 degrees celsius.

The finals reveals:

Toni Manninen was first seed with dominating 2GW 8VP! Seating was as follows:

Petrus Makkonen - Gangrel Anarchs
Aleksi Salonen - Emerald Legionnaire Erlik
Markus Määttänen - Dark Selina Voter

As the final started, Toni was already in deep trouble. His star-vampire didn't emerge in his crypt and it didn't get any better while the game went on. He saw only one out of his 12 Second Traditions and was really in the ropes the whole game.

Votes were everywhere and Selina made a deal with Gangrels to get somekind of votelock and deal damage to Erlik and Banu Haqims. The first hour was slow as everyone was trying to either survive or build their table. Petrus's villein was sudden'ed from Jonna and it was a deciding blow! In the 55 minute mark Jonna managed to oust Petrus with her Platinum Protocols as Petrus didn't manage to get another villein in time.

Then it was business as usual, Erlik recruiting a bunch of Legionnaires and Banu Haqims just trying to salvage the situation that was getting worse by the minute. Next major happening was when Markus managed to oust Banu Haqims when there was onyl 35 minutes left in the clock.

Jonnas situation got a lot more difficult, since now Markus was winning with better seed. But Ministry was running low on resources to force any kind of meaningful damage to Erlik and his horde of Legionnaires. Erlik gained more pool than he was dealt damage, even when Dark Selina joined the fray.

In the end, time run out and Markus was declared winner! It was really surprising to everyone, even for Markus who was sure Toni would win with his Banu Haqims, since he had dominated the prelims. And we have played a lot against those Banu Haqims in our weekly games, so every one knew what they were facing.

And this was second tournament victory to Markus in the short time he has played Vampire.
