As early summer hits the city of Joensuu, local Methusalehs and guests fought again in the shadows. Victory went to an old local player Aapo Järvelin, who have been absent for some time in the scene.
The final reveals:
Aapo was the first seed with impressive 2GW 8,5VP! Seating was as followed:
1. Pasi Karjalainen - Toreador presence bleeder
2. Petrus Makkonen - Banu Haqim
3. Simo Tiippana - Cybele Striga Scobax
4. Aapo Järvelin - Hecata
5. Mari Tiippana - Anarch Ministry Undue Influence Memory Rift
The finals started with fast oust, as Pasi ousted Petrus in the 18 minute mark. Presence bleeding is powerful and Petrus didn't have a chance. Next 20 minutes Mari bled heavily and Pasi's pool dipped dangerously low even after bounces and bleed reduces. Then in the 42 minute mark Aapo's Hecatas ousted Mari and it seemed Pasi was soon to follow.
But alas, VtES is a game of uneasy alliances and survival. Simo had managed to bring his vampires to table and just denied all Aapo's attempts to oust Pasi. In the end, Simo had four infernals with triple-strigas and played around 70 scobaxes during the game (with the help of several Ashur tablets), taxing Hecatas and then just denying. Also Simo topped his pool at 25 one moment, even when he had four high-cap vampires on the table. Nice buffer for those bounced bleeds. With Simo's help, Pasi managed to survive the Hecata onslaught and even gain some pool.
In the next hour nothing of note happened. Aapo tried to bleed Pasi, but Simo demanded blood-tax by several scobaxes. Unable or not wanting to pay, Aapo's actions failed. Pasi just tried to gain some pool.
When there was about 20 minutes left, Aapo struck a deal with Pasi that Pasi can try to oust Simo and then Aapo and Pasi would go to a duel. But it was in vain, as Simo had too big of a pool buffer, even thought Simo's library was empty. But same was Pasi's situation, library was empty and no more steam to oust Simo. The game ended when time ran out and the winner was Aapo with higher seed!
Simo had really interesting deck! Never have I ever seen striga and scobax.
