Coalescence

Master
1 Pool

Choose an unmerged vampire you control.
Search your crypt, uncontrolled region, or ash heap for his or her base or advanced version to move to him or her.
Shuffle your crypt afterward.
Each Methuselah may/can play only one Coalescence each game.

Flavor text: "I am what I am, and so will I be." (Thomas Wyatt, 1503–1542)

Art notes: A vampire, shaken, on his knees, because he got "struck down" by a shade that looks somehow like her (or him) and that is already coalescing with her (or him).

WoD reference: None.
"Coalescence" refers to the card "Epiphany" (like the Submission "Legacy" => www.vekn.net/forum/30-expansion-sets-a-card-ideas/71615-legacy-action-help-for-advanced-vamps) and to the existence of a lot, yet in many cases unplayed, "mergeable" vampires.

Compelling game need: To encourage merging, and to allow more complexe deck ideas (and maybe more diversity of decks).

Gift of Experience exists for a pool less, but with a tap cost.
Gift of Experience

Master.
Choose an untapped vampire you control. Tap that vampire. Search your crypt for an advancement card of that vampire (or the base vampire if an advancement is chosen) and put that card under or over the chosen vampire, as appropriate.

It's not super popular - two TWDA entries, none in the last 10 years. The tap cost is quite expensive, but I think the bigger issue is that it's a master. You can't stuff your deck with lots of them because it doesn't have an alternate use or a burn option clause or anything like that. So you're stuck with maybe 2 of them in a deck, and so it's very hard to do anything reliable with. So most people who can go with Epiphany (9 TWDA decks, still not that much), because it's much easier to play, much easier to cycle.

In my opinion, the sad fact about Gift of Experience is that it taps the vampire, making it "useless" for one turn (if it is not a blocky one).

Paying 1 pool for merging seems less annoying.
Maybe "Coalescence" does not need the "Each Methuselah may play only one Coalescence each game" clause, and could even be a trifle master card (in analogy to the untap effect of "Epiphany").

Nevertheless, I agree with you that a rather niche master rarely makes the cut of the final deck ...
