file Vampire the Card Game - A Rebuild

As part of the general back and forth that has been happening, I figure I might as well put this out there in its own space. This thread is entirely hypothetical into a reimagining of VTES. So commentary/discussion on it is the aim. This isn't a 'please bitch about how this isn't VTES' or similar. I'd ask admins to please get in on off-topic posts quickly.

Vampire the Card Game ((link))

I've done a VTES-like game with a number of big changes without losing some of my favourite parts of the game.

There are a big number of departures from VTES:
  • Vampires don't have blood of their own
  • VPs can be gained by methods other than killing players
  • A central Deck contributed to by all players in the game ((where VTES Event cards, and a number of Master Cards would appear in the game))
  • Alternative VP sources mean player Elimination isn't needed, but pseudo Elimination will exist. ((Note a variation considered but not included is to retain player Elimination but also keep outside VP sources))
  • Disciplines are not two-tier, but a 'rating'. Cards using Disciplines don't have two-tiers either.
  • A vampire with, for instance, Pot 4 could play at most four Potence cards during an action. This partly nerfs weenies, but also puts a stronger reliance on disciplineless card in the game.
  • Antitribbu are included in their 'traditional clan' with only a sect change
  • Master cards do not exist
  • Combat is not 1v1 by default but includes many v many. It is easily possible for an acting vampire to get blocked, bring in two vampires and combat against 4+ vampires.

So comment about the game structure.

First impressions:
I was really skeptical, but this a very well formulated exercise in trying to rework our beloved game.

One revision:
Taking actions part 3 Steath and Intercept: First sentence needs to read:
"The Acting Pawn may only gain Stealth when they have less or equal Stealth than the Pawn Mounting a Defence (aka Defender) has Intercept."
Otherwise you could not increase your stealth when being blocked.

Comments and a question:
I really like your discipline symbols for Dominate and Fortitude, but what a heck is the symbol for Melpominee supposed to be?

I very much like your take on discipline proficiency, twists the deck building process in a real interesting way. Also allows cards to have more detailed text as only one effect per card is needed, but can still be affected by proficiency (requires level x Potence or does x effect where x depends on how many level of discipline the Pawn has). .

Will comment more later, but nice work mate.
Cheers

Melpominee is, as I understand, based on music/chanting/song. The symbol was originally a Quaver note that was heavily altered.

I can let out of the bag that Vampire building, trying to run off the Character sheets, will prove to be quite a biatch, and it seems that most of the 'famous' vampires are Swiss-Army-Knife vampires who would have mild stealth, intercept, etc, etc, etc, etc
