Just a thought.

I'm a bit confused. What are you trying to say with this thread?

I suppose he want to say that retaining player is more important than trying to attract new one, because most of the pool of interested people already play.

Facebook's Plan is to get people in and KEEP them in. They're not looking to recruit everyone in the world for 15min, they want to get a big pool of people and keep the big pool.

By analogy to VTES... Shouldn't it be a priority to:
  • Get old players out of torpor
  • Keep the current players interested in playing
  • Keep groups active through tournaments as well
  • Use social networks (circles of friends) to be the core of your VTES groups
  • Recruit from social networks, because then the group will continue to exist and drive itself forward and expand over time

That's the kind of stuff I'm trying to do in my own area:
  • Keeping in touch with any of the players I know from Western Sydney
  • Letting them know they can bring friends around and we can teach them the game
  • Trying to give away special stuff at tournaments, since we don't get boosters/shirts/loot from WW anymore
  • Keep people talking to each other on places like Facebook
