file Russian Card Help

15 Feb 2012 17:28 #23211 by Ken Winland
Howdy!

Could someone list what Russian-themed cards there are, concerning characters or locations, events, etc? I have a Russian friend who wants to have theme cards, but aside from a couple of characters with Russian names (a start), I know nothing.

Thanks!

Ken

Off the top of my head:

Ilyana Ravidovich
Sergei Voshkov, The Eye
Viktor, The Night General
White Nights Massacre
Warsaw Station (RPG reference is in Russia though artwork is of Poland)
Durga Syn

For additional theme you could possibly include:

Kumpania
Gypsies
Whispers of the Nictuku
Maybe some Werewolves

Dmitra Ilyanova

These may be pushing the 'Russian' specific theme but work with me here.

Rötschreck, "The Red Fear" Maybe more of a Soviet theme. To bad there isn't anyone with Omega in their name.
Anthelios, The Red Star
Ak-47 (hard to miss this one)
The Crimson Sentinel
Autarkis Persecution (keep those masses in control)

May as well keep the Cold War theme going.

FBI Special Affairs Division

Rötschreck is German.
Omega would be Greek.
Anthelios sounds Greek (anti + helios = the opposite of the sun)

Tortured Confession quotes Stalin:
To chase one's victim, to prepare one's plan minutely, to slake an implacable vengeance, and then to go to bed... There is nothing sweeter in the world.
Josef Stalin

Tatiana Stepanova is probably Russian in the cannon (but expected patronym should be Stepanovna)
Tatiana Romanov might be Russian (but the -ov patronym is more likely not to be Russian than to be - it should've been -ova)
Ilyana Ravidovich is also weird. It should've been Ilyana Ravidovna.

BBs of group 6 are of the Kiev circle - that might be regarded as "Russian" if you go back before '91. Volo has the orthodox church cross on his arm.

they never made a card of Baba Yaga (russian folk character) but as far as she existed in the WoD, some of her trusted minions are cards, but sergie and viktor were already mentioned. a "baba yaga's servants" theme may work.

Rötschreck is German but that isn't why it was there, see the reference made to Red and a Soviet theme.

Omega was an Xmen joke with Rötschreck.

Anthelious, the Red Star

Using only direct Russian references you have a very limited selection. Weave the story with everything else.
