Hello,
Recently in the Finnish VTES community there was a discussion about what makes demo event an enjoyable experience for new players. Having run demo events before the pandemic struck, to me the most memorable player reactions have not been because they bled for 6 with Dominate. Instead, the players often became very excited imagining in their head how their vampire got a baseball bat which they soon after used to bash the skull of their prey's vampire.
A player of our community made an observation that the only V5 starter deck that contains equipment in it is the Tremere starter. This feels like a big downside with the new decks as to me cards such as equipment and locations are an easy way to add more flavor to each clan that is represented by their respective decks.
I would like to see more flavorful equipment cards in future products. Even 1 or 2 could make a notable difference. Without looking at the decklist as a whole it is hard to say how much it would impact the deck's playability but I think it would be very unlikely that including a couple equipment cards in a deck would make it unplayable.

This is an excellent idea that I will aim to try on the next V:tes demo session. Adding a few flavourful and fun cards to each deck could make the game more appealing and memorable for new players. Malkavians causing madness or doing pranks. War Ghoul driving an unlicensed taxi. Arika with a baseball bat. You know those moments! For "serious play", these cards could be removed as the core of the deck is still solid. Referring now to the excellent V5 starters.

Dear all,
Following your starting idea, maybe you could just add 1 action card that require that clan.
=> Nosferatu - SchrekNET (not the most usefull card but it is quite free since the acting vampire untaps and it is really flavorful)
=> Malkavian - Childing Muse (I would say Malkavian Rider Clause is better but the V5 deck does not have relevant Political Actions)
=> Toreador - Resplendent protector
=> Tremere - Ankara Citadel
=> Ventrue - :Political Ally
Regards,
Rémi.

As someone who pays attention to flavor and fluff, I also recommend clan-specific master cards. Things like Ventrue HQ, backways, labyrinth, hunting grounds etc.

I get your point. Just want to remark, that Ventrue HQ and The Labyrinth indeed are in the V5 Starters

It is way better to have functional decks than decks which contain clan flavor.
Sure, V5 is a starter set and as such these not as top notch decks could've probably spared a card slot or two for flavor cards. But I'm not expecting another such starter box any time soon...
