file Just recruited allies status

Hi community

Probably well-known question but I could not find the answer...

To recruit an ally from your hand, play the card and tap the acting minion. If the action is successful, the ally is placed in your uncontrolled region, even though it is controlled, to indicate that it cannot act this turn

So what is the exact status of ally at that time? Is it ready and untapped?

Underlying question: can you play Abomination on a just-recruited Cry Wolf?

Cry Wolf
Type: Ally
Requires: anarch
Unique werewolf with 3 life. 2 strength, 0 bleed. Requires a ready anarch.
If the action to recruit this ally is blocked, the acting anarch goes to torpor. This werewolf must enter combat with any minion controlled by another Methuselah as a (D) action. He gets one optional press each combat. This werewolf does not untap as normal during your untap phase. If he is tapped during your untap phase, burn him.

Abomination
Type: Action
Requires: non-sterile
Cost: 1 pool
+1 stealth action. Requires a ready non-sterile vampire.
Burn a ready untapped werewolf ally you control to put this card in play. It becomes a unique Independent Abomination with 4 capacity, superior Protean [PRO] and +1 strength. Move up to 4 blood from the acting vampire to this vampire. This vampire gets an additional strike each round and an optional maneuver each combat. He may enter combat with a ready minion as a (D) action.

A just-recruited ally in the uncontrolled region is controlled but not ready.

[LSJ 19980717]

The short answer (ruling/correction): The Ally is controlled (and thus a
legal target for most effects), but is not ready while it is in the inactive
region. This could be better shown if the Ally were placed in the Torpor
region, but doing so would lead to its own set of questions and confusion.

The Ally is placed face-up in the inactive region when it is recruited,
which can serve as a helpful reminder that the Ally is controlled.
(Face-up cards in play are controlled, as a general rule. Face-down cards
in play are not.)

Underlying question: can you play Abomination on a just-recruited Cry Wolf?

Not by default, no, since it targets a ready, untapped werewolf ally. So it's not ready now. And on your next turn, it has a mandatory action (enter combat) that will tap it - and being mandatory, must be taken before any chance to play an Abomination action.

There are ways round this - Madness Network to play the Abomination out-of-turn, Change of Target on the mandatory action etc. None of them are that great, overall.

Rulebook, section 2.3, shows the 'Ready' region. If you are in some other region (such as the Uncontrolled) you are not ready.
