It's a good idea to post the cardtexts .

Drawing Out the Beast
Cardtype: Combat
Discipline: Animalism
Only usable before range is determined on the first round. Frenzy.
[ani] During this combat, opposing vampire gets +1 strength, but he or she cannot use maneuvers to maneuver to long range, cannot use presses to end combat and cannot use equipment. A vampire may play only one Drawing Out the Beast each combat.
[ANI] As above, and the opposing vampire takes 1 unpreventable damage during the press step each round.

@Deckardx: When quoting someone, make sure to give a date or a link to the reference. There might have been changes that made that ruling moot/reversed it. The ruling you give ( here ) is a ruling that was made in 1998. At that time (pre-SW), Drawing Out the Beast's text was different (check this scan ), and worked as the ruling you gave reads.

However, as Jussi said, the damage is now inflicted in the press step (check cardtext above), which is skipped if one of the combattants declares a Strike: Combat ends:

Strike: Combat Ends. [6.4.5] (go to step E).

This is in step C (strike and strike resolution), where step D is for presses and step E is the end of the round.

So, regardless of the Dawn Operation, if either combattant plays a combat end strike, the vampire on which Drawing Out the Beast was played won't suffer the 1 damage in the press step.
