file "Personal Involvement"

This is a rather academical question on ...

Personal Involvement
3 :pool:

Master.
If your prey has more pool than you (after paying the cost of this card), your prey burns 3 pool. Any Methuselah can cancel this card as it is played by burning 2 pool (the cost of this card is not paid in that case).

Let's say, we are in a 3 player game. I am on 3 pool, my prey is on 2 pool, my predator is on 1 pool.
I play "Personal Involvement" (and my prey decides not to cancel the card by paying 2 pool ^^) -- what happens?

Of course, I will be ousted, but will my prey be ousted, too?
If so, will I get a VP?

Thanks in advance!

Yes.

Both are ousted.

The general rule is that paying for a master card and resolving the card happens at the same time. The reason most people remember this (if they do) is because you can play Eternals of Sirius when on 4 pool to end up on 5 pool.

If so, will I get a VP?

That's handled by 9.1 of the rules , as normal.

If a player is ousted at the same time that her prey is ousted, the player gets the victory point but does not gain 6 pool.

So yes, you would.

Wasn't that originally done to allow Villein to be played and not self-oust (i.e. playing a 2nd Villein on a vampire when the player is at 1 pool) then back-tracked onto Eternals? I only remember the issue appearing after the printing of Villein.

No, the issue existed for far longer than Villein. Keepers of Tradition was released in November 2008, and is the set Villein was introduced in.

Yes.

Which itself cites from six years earlier:

Sure. For instance, you could play hypothetical card
Big Ascendance - Master - 35 pool - Gain 40 pool
if you had only 35 pool (and stay in the game).

Sure.
