Can "Taste of Vitae" be played after playing press?
I thik, no, but both played at the end of a round.

Taste of Vitae: Only usable at the end of a round of combat. Not usable by a vampire going into torpor. This vampire gains an amount of blood equal to the amount lost by the opposing vampire to damage during this round of combat. A vampire can play only one Taste of Vitae each round.

Taste of Vitae must be played after presses as it's played at the end of the round, whereas presses are played at the press step:

A Round begins.
B Determine (set) range.
C Strike.
D Presses.
E End of round.

So if you play a taste before pressing you've effectively skipped the opportunity to press. See VI here vekn.net/index.php/complete-rules-reference

Careful.

Taste of Vitae is played at the end of the round, whenever that is. If you've got as far as the press step, it's played after that. If the round ends earlier than that for some reason - say, torporizing the opponent, or an S:CE strike resolving - you play Taste of Vitae then.

Good practice is to declare yoir plans for any unused optional presses (from immortal grapple or indomitability, etc) after the business of strikes and thier ensuing ouch-ness is over, then drop tastes after that.

Drawing oit the beast hits during press step, so dropping taste early might make your math come up one short.

Can you taste after a s:ce?

Yes, Taste of Vitae is played in the same window as Psyche (the end of the round). S:CE effectively skips to the end of the round, bypassing the press step and damage resolution.

Also from vekn.net/index.php/complete-rules-reference

"Strike: Combat Ends. (go to step E). Any other effect from this strike is applied after combat ends (except untapping, which is normally done before combat ends by card text)."

E. Round Ends. [6.4.4]
Apply any end-of-round effects.
If the press step ended with "to continue", then another round begins (Go back to step A).
