Relevant card text from superior The Jones (to establish it has the same timing as Charismatic Aura):

First, thanks for the quick reply. Your logic is solid, but I think I'll need PB's official rulling on that one.

No. The Jones is played as the strike card is played (before the Target Vitals
is played). Like using DI to cancel a Govern with Seduction.
Relevant card text from superior The Jones (to establish it has the same timing as Charismatic Aura):
Cancel the opposing minion's strike card as it is played. (No cost is paid, and the minion chooses another strike). A vampire may play only one The Jones at superior each round.

RevRev,
The reason for not being able to Bone Spur between the Strike and the TV is not the text on Spur, but the text on TV. "Play when choosing a strike"

Bone Spur isn't quite "whenever".
[LSJ 20080831]
And from later in the same thread:
The difference is potentially important if, say, you play Undead Strength re-draw into a claw, play that claw, and then re-draw into your Target.
There is a trend in V:TES that - to the best of my recollection - has never been explicitly codified that "when X is announced" is a special timing phase in which "when X is announced" effects can go, but not arbitrary effects. The first post above earlier gets close when LSJ says:

No. He could play CM, then announce his hand strike with Target Vitals, though.
And from later in the same thread:
There are three effects listed:
AHS: announce hand strike.
CM: play Chiropteran Maurauder
TV: play Target: Vitals
The above says TV must be played with AHS or not at all.
So CM-AHS-TV is OK.
And AHS-TV-CM is OK.
But not AHS-CM-TV.

Correct.
