There are a few issues with the [LSJ 19990217] ruling above and its interaction with the rulebook. It refers to a "strike announcement phase." There is no formal "strike announcement phase." Section 6.4.1 of the rulebook indicates there is a "strike phase," wherein strikes are "announced and resolved." Referring to a step in a phase as a phase itself is confusing.
The rulebook then uses "choose strike" instead of "announce strike" in 6.4.3. From context, I assume "choose strike" is intended to mean the same thing as "announce strike" (the detailed play summary uses "announce strikes" instead of "choose strikes" [6.4.3]). This also confusing. The rulebook should just use "announce strikes" throughout.

Rotschreck is played when the attempt to use aggravated damage is announced, during the strike announcement phase (before any damage prevention can be played). It can be played after the other strike is announced, however. [LSJ 19990217]
