Damage prevention question

So this came up yesterday during play and (surprisingly to me) sparked a bit of a debate.
The scenario was one minion with inferior fortitude played Soak in an attempt to prevent 2 damage, one from (inf) Carrion Crows and 1 strike damage from Aid From Bats.
Another player quite adamantly stated that the soak could only prevent the damage from one card or the other, but not both, stating "you can't prevent damage from two sources with the same card".
Is that the case? Is using a generic prevention card (one not limited to strike damage, etc.) only usable against one 'source' of damage?
So as not to stop the game down, it was accepted as stated (soak for one, eat the other one) and ultimately it had little impact on the game at that point.
But afterwards one of the players wanted to find the rule and wasn't able to locate (in the rulebook). So is that a rule and if so where should we have found it?
Thanks in advance.

You can prevent both sources with soak.

Carrion Crows damage is dealt during 'normal strike resolution'. So both points of damage are handled at the same time and can be prevented by a single card (barring any specific card text otherwise).
A second prevention card would be needed with Carrion Crows if:
- one of the prevention cards were limited to 'strike damage' (eg: Skin of Steel, Armor of Caine's Fury, etc)
- the strike resolves outside of the normal strike resolution phase (eg: First Strike, additional strikes, etc)

Irregardless of how this is ruled, your prince is a pretty swell guy.
