If Eye of Hazimel is burned via yelding a contest, does it deals damage to vampire by it's cardtext?

This vampire gets superior Potence and superior Chimerstry, and combat cards cost this vampire 1 fewer blood. While the bearer is ready, this equipment cannot be moved or stolen. If this equipment is burned, it inflicts 5 unpreventable environmental damage on the bearer. During your unlock phase, burn 1 pool or burn this equipment.

For the duration of the contest, all of the contested cards are turned face down and are out of play. When you yield the contest they move from out of play to the ashheap, so Eye of Hazimel cardtext (5 unpreventable damage) doesn't apply
