This came up in a local discussion recently.

Name: Twisting the Knife
[Sabbat:R, SW:R]
Cardtype: Combat
Cost: 1 blood
Discipline: Potence
[pot] Only usable as damage from a hand or melee weapon strike is resolved; only usable if this vampire inflicts 3 or more damage. He or she inflicts an additional point of damage. Only one Twisting the Knife may be played by a vampire during a strike phase.
[POT] As above, with an optional press.
Artist: Scott Fischer

Now, the Sabbat War printing of Twisting the Knife uses the text "successfully inflicted 3 or more damage" (while Sabbat used "inflicted"), but it appears that the text change never made it into the official cardlist (the oldest online version I was able to find via the wayback machine from 2001 - web.archive.org/web/20010811121732/http://www.white-wolf.com/vtes/Cardlist.html - used "inflicted"). Since I can find no mention of the change being reverted, this appears to have been a simple oversight, rather than a explicit decision.

'Successfully inflicted" and "inflicted" are quite different, since inflicted does not exclude prevented damage (see Abyssal Hunter), while "successfully inflicted" does (see Target Vitals), which changes how the card works significantly, but all the discussions I can find about the card are clear that the damage needs to be 'successfully inflcted' - see groups.google.com/g/rec.games.trading-cards.jyhad/c/iyYFQmxcJFo/m/AXRzX0tSuoQJ or groups.google.com/g/rec.games.trading-cards.jyhad/c/FArran2SmSQ/m/dqehxDX_Qk4J (which explicitly calls out the difference between the two phrases).

I think this requires either an official update to the cardlist text, or an explicit clarification that the current text is indeed the correct one, with the related implication of overriding LSJ's statements on the card.
