Failing action before block attempts was created by meneran
Is it possible to play Faerie Wards [myt/MYT] or Hide the Heart [val] before blocks are attempted?

Is it possible to play those cards during block attempt?

There is ruling that supports this (note that Hide the Heart used to end the action at the time of the ruling): groups.google.com/g/rec.games.trading-cards.jyhad/c/vJQTPYtp-Eg/m/6_nkxd28-v8J

Faerie Wards
Only usable if an ally or younger vampire is taking an action directed at you (or a card you control).
[aus] +2 intercept.
[myt] The action fails. Lock this reacting vampire.
[MYT] As Mytherceria above, and the acting minion does not unlock as normal during their next unlock phase.

Hide the Heart
[aus] Reduce a bleed against you by 1.
[val] The action fails, unless the acting minion burns 1 blood. Only one Hide the Heart can be played at Valeren each action.
[VAL] Reduce a bleed against you by 2, or lock to reduce a bleed against any Methuselah by 2.

Yes.

Is it possible to play those cards during block attempt?

No (per the Archon Investigation ruling).

Yes.

Is this a reversal of the hide the heart ruling, or is the old ruling moot with the new card text?

Can't.
Edward would have to invoke his special before the block succeeds.

This reads as if it is the sucess of the block that stops the effect from beign used, not a running block attempt.

also generalization question:

Does this extend to all effects that "fail" the acion?

Both are still valid.

I read it as: you can play the card either before or after block attempts (but not during per the Archon Investigation ruling).
