Oh and adding the ppa also breaks Ubuntu Software Centre.

I had to manually edit /etc/apt/sources.list.d/sutekh-ppa-natty.list to remove line 2, which read "ubuntu natty main".

Software Centre and apt-get update both work now. However, application "sutekh" still cannot be found.

I think /etc/apt/sources.list.d/sutekh-ppa-natty.list should look like:
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/sutekh/ppa/ubuntu natty main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/sutekh/ppa/ubuntu natty main
The second line that you removed should have been part of the first line. I don't know now it got separated -- I can only imagine that add-apt-repository did something odd (Sutekh isn't involved in this at all).

The name of the package is "python-sutekh".

"ubuntu natty main" was at the end of the first line. it looks like the deb-src line was missing everything before it's "ubuntu natty main".

I started again, checking the .list as I went. it's all working now. package is python-sutekh, but the bin to run is just 'sutekh'. Maybe I should have rtfm! ;)
