No, S:CE resolves before other effects.

A scenario to make things perhaps clearer: A is in combat with B.

A: before range, Call the Wild Hunt at superior, Carrion Crows at superior, that's all
B: nothing here
A: no maneuver
B: no maneuver
A: hand strike for 1
B: same here
A: so you take 1 + 2 from the Carrion Crows. And I'll discard a Raven Spy to inflict 1 more damage, that's 4 damage
B: ok. Do you prevent?
A: nope
B: I'll play Soak at superior to prevent 4.
A: ok, I burn 1 blood to mend the damage from your strike.
