That is the right thing to do.
If I witnessed such behaviour from a player in a tournament game, I would call for the judge and tell him that the respective player is trolling and stalling the game.Then could you legally ask "What can you offer me not to DI that?" on every single minion card played by any player, through the entire game?

Could be that the player DOES have DI and might be willing to use it.
If not interested in such shameless ploys to get something out of, well, basically nothing, just tell them that you won't ever give them anything so no need to ask again ("just talk to the hand...").
If after that they still persist, showing stalling shouldn't be a problem...

It is not about reverting a card played that could be counter by DI so none the DI and the card were lost.
Once a player announces he is playing a card, there is no step back.
It is about extortion for future retributions.

If I understand the question correctly it is about the length of the "as played window" and if it is possible to negotiate when someone play a card that you could DI.
And the answer is there is no fixed limit, and you are allowed to negotiate during that window.
