file Valuation?

From the original post, there's a play group interested in seeing the cards stay in use while their mate who drops out gets a fair price. I'd rather see more well supplied active playgroups, so better for the cards to stay where they are.

If your group can't afford what your mate has, then he's certainly welcome to contact me, I do both buy collections and also sell collections on consignment. I didn't comment on it in the first post because the original question was not "will you buy his cards" but "what should we offer him for his cards".

I'm not sure what the Australian postal rates are, but it would probably cost me over $200 USD to send that much from the US to Aus; I'd imagine it's at least as much coming the other way. Still feasible, if your mate wants to consider it, but it'd take a big chunk out of what he'd get for the cards.

Salem,
Who is selling up? I'd be curious about what sort of price he wants for that lot.

Original Jyhad card collections can range from $0.01 to $0.05 (all figures in US Dollars) per card. Collections from later sets can start in that range and go as high as $0.15 or higher per card, depending on if there's a lot of highly valued expansions in the mix. (For example, a collection of Keepers of Tradition recently went for $0.15 per card).

At the present time, a collection that is mostly recent sets that can be bought at distributor prices directly from WW is obviously less valuable than it once was.

Based mostly just on the quantity of cards (I judge around 14,000), and the fact that there's some hotter stuff (Heirs to the Blood, Legacies of Blood, and esp Kindred Most Wanted), if you say $0.05 - $0.07 per card, you're in the range of $700 to $950.

I find that when both Adonai and I look at the valuation of something, I can count on his number being considerably lower than mine. I do think he's too pessimistic about the valuation, but there is no objective truth in a fluid market like this.

I think that the main problem, which Kevin may be getting at, is that people don't want to shell out close to a grand at a time for cards. Unopened product would be easier to sell, so that will probably be easier to market than say 2 opened boxed of 3rd edition, which could be anything.

hi all,

A friend of mine is getting out of the game (sad) since he never has time to play any more. However, a few other of my friends are thinking of getting in to the game. So what I was hoping for is some idea of what my friend's collection is worth so the other guys can give him a fair price for it.

Perhaps before you all pile on in a feeding frenzy, perhaps you should read the first paragraph of the original post.
