file Submission - Shadow Figure / Work from shadows - maneuvers for oblivion

06 Dec 2024 12:31 #113247 by Haldirus
Name: Work from shadows
Cardtype: Action modifier / Combat
Cost: 0
Oblivon inferior: Maneuver
Superior: +1 Stealth

Name: Shadow figure
Type: Combat
Play only before range is settled,
Inf . Oblivion: maneuver
Sup: Oblivion: as above and this vampire has +1 strenght for this round.

How does these cards address a compelling game need?:
Currently Lasombras have not so many maneuvers and there is visible lack of synergies between potence and oblivion and this easy fix might help.

I think the Lasomba clan is missing this. They have Potency discipline, but without manoeuvre, it is pretty weak. Potence looks very disconnected from the other two disciplines. This should help Lasobra not be a complete glass cannon.

I agree with the point that Lasombra should have at least some theoretical access to maneuver. On the other hand I would rather see the card overlap less with potence (like Shadow Step) or it could require both disciplines and be a litle bit stronger perhaps?

I think the card might be similar in functionality and stronger than your version.

Sabbat.Black Hand Shakar: Lech loathe ranged weapons. Once each action, he may burn 1 blood to become Camarilla Prince of Krakow until the end of the action.

Although I agree Oblivion needs manuevers, I don't think it needs yet another stealth modifier (it has 5). Lasombra combat should be scary, but it also needs to fit the Hecata.

I'd prefer to see:
- manuever at basic and only usable before range is determined. Set the range for this round (similar to Shadow Step) at superior.
- manuever at basic and +1 intercept with 1 optional maneuver during the resulting combat if this vampire blocks at superior (we've never seen a manuever OR an intercept) & Oblivion is also low on intercept.
- manuever at basic and as above with strke: strength ranged damage (like Shadow Strike)
- manuever at basic and as above and cancel a manuever as it is played at superior

For all we know, something like this might already be in the works for the New Blood release or the new Hecata starter. Additional strength doesn't make a ton of sense for a clan that already has potence or a spooky abyss-based necro clan.

the bolded sugestion looks like the good and old eyes of the night,i like it, very curious to see what oblivion will bring in the Hecata precon
