Power creep and/or inflation was created by skunkworks
Been away from the game for some years. Now trying to get our group playing again. I dropped off around Legacies of Blood, so am not too familiar with the latest expansions.
I do believe power creep has been kept to minimum, but I have to say Deep Song made me wonder if that is really still the case. Have not studied the card lists that deeply, mind. And could well be Deep Song is not as powerful and useful as it seems. Still, the last expansions did, in my opinion, take away something from the old game we used to play. With this I mean more options for disciplines to do stuff outside their original, specialized, things: stealth for clans that had not had access to it in the past, Strike: Combat Ends a possibility for more vampires and so forth. The differences between clans felt diminished, which made them feel more homogenous.
Am I wrong in thinking this? Or is there something else that has happened and affected the game in some fashion I am not aware of? In a nutshell: I guess I am asking for a quick recap of things that have happened.
I realize this topic might have been done to death already. If so, I would appreciate it if you could point me to the right thread.

Well, there is no much power creep in that no card are really more powerful than Pentex Subversion, Dream of the Sphinx, or the classic dominate card (I.E. govern and Deflection). Animalism in pure Jyhad card is not all that hot, it took Carrion Crow and Deep song to make it a beloved discipline.
You are right however that there have been a general tendancy toward less specialization. This is for the good old cause of balance, but it can be seen as unfortunate. Then again, there were and still are a lot of clan that have "being very weak" as a clan quirk.

Yes. Could well be. It was just that Deep Song was the first new card I checked after seeing it mentioned and it did look damn über (and the asking price is quite high as well, for a C).
Any idea if there will be more expansions? It has been a while since the last one.

Keeper of tradition have several infamous common that are near impossible to get because relatively few booster were edited while every deck that sport
will play several. Ashur tablet have the same problem, and are certainly even more powerful.
Deep Song is expensive more because its scarcity than its power. It is definitely a very powerful card, but replacing it is pretty doable ; it main function is avoiding card jam.
The editor actually stopped production something like one or two year ago. The VEKN, which is the official body for sanctioned tournament, have taken the initiative to create a new set. They are also in discussion with a potentiel new publisher.
The aforementioned new set will either be printed on print-on-demand (if the discussion with the publisher are quick enough) or be a PDF set that everybody will be allowed to print and use in official tournament (since the VEKN can't fund a printed edition).

Damn. Did not know they stopped the production.
Oh well. Sounds somewhat similar to Games Workshop and Specialist Games. And that has not stopped people playing Epic or Blood Bowl.
