Hey, I'm a new player too, or at least trying to be

I bought a set of the Barbed Wire decks from eBay and highly recommend this route. A set of pre-made decks is always going to be a better way to learn a game than a bunch of loose cards and no idea how to combine them in a reasonable way.

Between that and the rulebook link over to your left, learning wasn't too bad. The core rules aren't that complex, there are just more special cases and +1 modifiers to remember than most games.

Lackey seems like a good way to play online, it's got plugins for lots of different games and is fairly basic. There are tutorial videos to learn the interface and the VTES plugin comes with a number of premade deck listings too. Never heard of JOL before so I can't comment on that.
