file Online play by mail alternative

11 Jun 2015 13:36 - 29 Sep 2015 08:48 #71654 by Blooded Sand
After the last downtime of jol, I noticed a number of people said they would be willing to pay a few dollars a month for an alternative.
Please post in the thread if you would be willing to subscribe to such a service, and if yes, how much. If I see this as being a worthwhile project I will see if i can get it up and running.

Lastly, would you prefer this as a Webbrowser solution, or an app solution, or a seamless solution?

PS: What happened to starting polls?

Multiple chat channels, Game chat, Politics/Bullshitting chat in game, main chat has chatter and game requests. Possibly use IRC client?
Admins have ability to hand game away if leaving/going on holiday, with an auto giveaway after 14 days or more afk (14 days is simply for example, but seems a reasonable period)

EDIT: 13/09/2025
Toggle flags for nb non d, nb, ns, nv, ni
EDIT: 13/09/2015 part 2
Custom lists for each player (Black list, prefer to play with, etc)
Queueing system for joining games, set flag to "wish to join" and will be shown to mods as available for games.
Make game creation not require mod status, only game deletion/closure. Games with only player with any VPs will be auto closed and results stored.
Queue commands. This is to replace the current method of transferring before your turn, then zeroing out pool at start of a match to expedite the turn process.
EDIT: 14/09/2015
For text interface, allow custom command presets. e.g. play AC, reduce blood to zero, draw vamp. Possibly allow to be tied to specific decks?
EDIT: 28/09/2015
make it able to move cards in specific regions without it flooding main chat, maybe under the separate chat channels
MAYBE: add rules flowchart(game automation), with a secondary card type encoding (master, action, etc) and a potential secondary level (enter combat, bleed, flick, etc)
EDIT: 29/09/2015
flags for statuses, visual indicators of some kind (anarch, Red List, etc)

I started to work on a jol-like web application using knockout, but it's just a stub and I don't have time to work on it.
I think a collaborative project could work if multiple people had time to work on it (the goal being to reproduce something like jol).
I wouldn't play V:TES by mail.

I'd be in favor of a very similar interface to jol, easy to use on phones/tablets/work machines.

I don't think the format is broken, just the ability to update the site.

I'm not much of a coder, but I'd be happy to help with idea/testing.

How about something good, like Lackey?

Lackey does not support non real time play, unfortunately.
