As Ankha said, you only have to answer the questions you like to answer, right? And as for why, I guess they want to know how their target audiences look like. I do not understand how this is hard to understand. If there are many gay people, they might want to add more gay signature characters If many people have a high annual salary, they might get the idea that they can charge more for their products Or vice versa of course.
