file Freshing up my memory on contesting

19 Oct 2015 12:39 #73741 by Oortje
This might be nitpicking, but help me out.

situation 1
Player a has anson with an ivory bow
player b plays anson and they start contesting.
play b plays an ivory bow on a igo.
Is the ivory bow contested?

situation 2
Player a has anson with ivory bow
Player b plays an ivory bow on igo and starts contesting
Player b plays anson and starts contesting anson
Is the ivory bow still contested?

If yes. The situation continues.
Player b yields contesting on igo. And plays a new ivory bow on igo. Is that one contested?

situation 3
Player a has anson with ivory bow. Anson gets banished.
PLayer b plays anson with ivory bow.
Player a transfers out anson (still with bow)
Is the bow contested?

Thanks in advance.

It's all in the rulebook:

Some of the cards in the game represent unique resources, such as specific locations, equipment or people. These cards will be identified as "unique" in their card text. In addition, all crypt cards represent unique minions. If more than one unique card with the same name is brought into play, that means control of the card is being contested. For the duration of the contest, all of the contested cards are turned face down and are out of play. If another unique card with the same name is brought into play, it is immediately contested and turned face down as well.

The only thing that matters is: is the card already in play (contested or not)? Being on another contested card doesn't change anything.

So
1/ Both Ivory Bow and Anson are contested
2/ Both Ivory Bow and Anson are contested
2'/ Ivory Bow has been yielded. A new Ivory Bow comes in play. There's already one in play, so it becomes contested.
3/ Both Ivory Bow and Anson are contested

So that implies that equipment and other cards on a contested vampire remain in play during the contest, and can be destroyed/stolen etc? Good to know!

Since contest is being discussed: what happen with constesting and first tradition skip-of-turn?

First Tradition happens before you get the chance to continue or yield the contest AFAIK so the contest remains.
