Environmental damage range

I see Ghoul Retainer does not inflict damage at range ( [ANK 20210929] ).
However [LSJ 20090610] states that Bestial Vengeance do, but it uses Darkling Trickery as a reason and that card's text has changed to include "1R".

So I have questions:

• Does Bestial Vengeance do damage at long range?
• Does Thoughts Betrayed do damage at long range?
