I have read the ruling about this combo but my doubt refers about the text change.

Original text was "put this card on him or her"

the new text is

Name: Descent into Darkness
[Gehenna:C, POD:DTC]
Cardtype: Action
Cost: 1 blood
Discipline: Obtenebration
+1 stealth action.
[obt] Put this vampire and any cards and counters on them out of play (breaking any temporary control effects) and put this card in play. During your influence phase, this vampire can gain 2 blood, and you can choose to burn this card to return the vampire to play (in the same region as they were before), locked.
[OBT] As above, but the vampire is unlocked as they return to play.

Bold on relevant.

I see I didn't set this clear. The scenario is after a minion has been stolen by the mind rape. And the Methuselah that stole it, use it to play a Descent into darkness. What happens when the minion returns to his original controller.
.
  1. Player A plays mind rape on minion X of player B
  2. Player B plays his turn normally. Minion X remains locked
  3. Player A burns mind rape and gets minion X unlocked
  4. Player A plays Descent into darkness with minion X
  5. Minion X returns to player B (DiD breaks temporary control)
If you put DiD in play (like army of rats) and not on the minion (like the original text) then when the minion change controls back to his original controller DID doesn't change of controller and therefor the original player choose to burn it or not.

So with the change of text also changes completely the synergy with mind rape.

Is my reasoning correct?

Actually I guess that the new text tried to avoid the problem that, as a card on a permanent out of play is also out of play, technically DiD could not be used to bring back the vampire to play as it also out of play (and it could not be used)

In that case, I would recommend adding something like this so it's online with LSJ's rulling.

"put this card in play (this vampire's controller controls this card)"

Mind rape

Descent into Darkness work like the rack, stays in play "targeting and remembering" the out of play vampire, the controller of the vampire chooses when he come back, and the mind rape (out of play with the vampire that was nurturing on the shadows of abyss) come back when the vampire comes back and trigger on the next minion phase of his controller, no?

Descent into Darkness breaks immediately the temporal control from Mind rape. So as soon as you play DiD the vampire returns to his permanent controller. (the scenario is about when the Vampire has been temporarily stolen. Not before.)

And the controller of the vampire doesn't decide when the vampire returns.
The controller of DiD decide. That's the point. If DiD is on the vampire, the controller of the vampire is the controller of DiD. If DiD is on play, the player that played DiD is the controller.

I agree with Coyote's remarks. Well, unless allowing this powerful combo is intentional.

wait a minute, let´s see if i understood:
Player A's turn: use one of his minions to play mind rape on a vampire of player B, that vampire lock and don´t unlock as normal
Player's B turn: mind raped vampire don't unlock, Player B uses something to unlock him, then use DiD with the mind raped vampire, removing mind rape, is it? before mind rape trigger is already considered a temporary control effect?

if Player do nothing and on player A turn the mind rape trigger and player A play a DiD i understand the control go back to player B and by the rullings the control of DiD go to player B too... you cant permanent isolate the vampire on the abyss with this...

Player A plays mind rape on minion X of player B
Player B plays his turn normally. Minion X remains locked
player A burns mind rape and get minion X unlocked
Player A plays Descent into darkness with minion X
Minion X returns to player B

Old text says that DiD is put on the minion. So when minion returns to player B, he controls DiD and can choose to burn it to return minion X to play.

New text puts DiD on play. So when Minion X returns to player B DiD is still controlled by player A and he can choose not to burn DiD forever so minion X is permanently out of play

I hope this clear it.
