Loving Agony and Catatonic Fear was created by noir
I was wondering something here.
Does the card 'Loving Agony' work similar to 'Catatonic fear' in that, that it causes the damage after combat, making it non-preventable? The reason I'm wondering is because they're worded quite different with one saying "combat ends and the opposing minion takes 1 damage." whilst the other say "...as above (combat ends) and inflict 1 damage to the opposing minion once combat ends, if the range is close".
Loving Agony
Cardtype: Combat
Cost: 1 blood
Discipline: Valeren/Animalism
Only usable at close range.
[ani] Strike: hand strike at +1 damage.
[val] Strike: combat ends and the opposing minion takes 1 damage.
[VAL] As [val] above, and this vampire may burn 1 blood to untap before combat ends.
Catatonic Fear
Cardtype: Combat
Cost: 1 blood
Discipline: Presence

If some strike reads: "Strike: Combat ends, and do something", then something happens after combat.
The only exception is when the strike reads "Combat ends and untap" (Majesty, Earth Meld, Loving Agony, ..), where the *this vampire untaps* part happens before the end of combat.
So, yes, the damage from Loving Agony is similar to the damage from Catatonic Fear, vis-a-vis their timing. They are inflicted after combat, and can't be prevented with combat cards.

There is a difference that I think is interesting. You can play target cards with LA while you can not play them with CF.

'Target' cards are played when choosing a strike, which is during combat, so why can't you play them on CF?

Because LJS made a ruling that you can not use target vitals on CF. I believe there is a window there that is missed. One occurs immediately while the other is after combat.
