Correct. When you change clan, your sect is reset to the base sect of the clan.
It's so a ventrue that clan imp to Lasombra also become sabbat, and here it's used to put people into sabbat / camarilla.

I've been considering her, maybe I should try her out. I just don't like the fact that she can't play Derange, and even less the fact that she can't replace Ankou as my designated anarch, as she is a legal target to move the Derange back to.
Who would you suggest as a replacement? He's titleless, malkavian and large, all of which are pretty much required for the role he plays in the deck. Harrold Zettler is ok as a back-up, but I really like that one extra capacity for Deranging, keeping the Liason title and for when he needs to find the Inner Peace. Santaleous has turned up for auctions, but his amazing special doesn't work all that well in a deck with no blood gain and lots of Villeins.

Ankou looks like a really weird choice here.

Nope. Choose a Nerd with
or
. You play derange on the nerd and then you pass the Derange on how you want with the Nerd.

How about Esau instead? He has effectively +2 bleed which can always be useful and is just as big.
Also instead of Harold, have you considered Aristotle de Laurent? +1 hand size is yummy, and he has the same +1 stealth Harold does. Then you could also replace Unmada with Rachel Brandywine who also has +1 bleed which is good so you then have lots of perma bleed for nice plan b.

I think the Ankou is great. His ability to potentially destroy a vampire who gets low on blood is very interesting and makes other players spend the vitae with caution. Not to mention the attrition power of Derange
