Some of your points are well taken, and are similar to some of the things I have thought as well. But consider that being very negative makes people want to ignore even your good suggestions ( this from an also negative person...)

VEKN should publish a regular newsletter. I think one every four months would be okay. It should go on the front page on this site. It doesn't have to be long, just a few paragraphs talking about what's going on, if anything. Official announcements should not be only be made on forum threads. There should be a central location for news. I know VTES players have got into the habit of having to do internet searches to find information about anything, but it may be time to move away from that.

Since VEKN is a volunteer undertaking, people should be realistic about what can be accomplished, including VEKN themselves. That's true about any project undertaken. For instance, creating and maintaining a ratings system is a huge task, one which ate up a lot of Robyn Tatu's life, I believe. It's a big project. If VEKN is having a problem with it, or doesn't feel it's feasible with current manpower, OK, just publish an update.

Would it be a good idea to contact the person behind the rankings system personally, and offer him some help? Like, "I've got some extra time, what can I do to help you out?"

It might be just me, but isn't voluntary work just that: if you have the time and energy, what's stopping you from actually asking the higher ups if they'll let you work on something? The Newsletter would be a perfect target for people wanting to help. Newsletter need people to write the stuff, work on the layout, produce the .pdf:s, gather information about what's going on...


What I'm saying, is that people seem to have a lot of time to rant. Maybe use that time to help out?
