Going with the tournament rules, I'd say not allowing someone to count your crypt/library is more cheating than wanting to do so. The number of cards in your deck is open information and trying to obscure it is considered cheating ( 5.1 and Appendix B in the tournament rules). Of course, having a judge count the cards and tell your predator how many they are would work as well. It seems like a lot of unnecessary work for the judge/s though, and a lot of mistrust for your fellow players.

And, as stated earlier, if your deck has sufficiently mixed card types of each different back there shouldn't really be any problem. Or am I missing something?

I will be honest : for me, taking specific steps to ensure that all crypt cardare from the same edition (3rd, jyhad, or "regular") is insulting, mean, and somewhat cheating.

* insulting, because it's saying that I am myself dishonest, trying to get specific edition to get undue information

* mean, because you try to make the life of your prey as miserable possible

* somewhat cheating, because you try to get an undue advantage (ensuring your prey have a less beneficial crypt draw).

If transparents sleeves are authorized, then you should not try to discrimate against it ; just report to the judge if you believe someone use the card back in an unfaire way.

Also, the third edition have a lot of exclusive vampire, so the argument of "somewhat mixed" is not exactly alway possible.

Yes, if I think someone has constructed an illegal deck I will call a judge. That's not the situation being discussed here though, but rather one where I assume my prey has a legal deck.
And if the deck is constructed according to the rules, there wouldn't be any "less beneficial crypt draw" from a cut that ended with 4+ cards with identical backs on top. Or at least, the "less beneficial crypt draw" should be considered a minor disadvantage which I guess would be allowed since minor advantages coming from differently backed cards are allowed according to the tournament rules.

Which could be a good argument for changing the current rules regarding differently backed cards. Please don't bring that discussion to this thread though, better to start a new one if you want to go there again.

I wouldn't say intimidate. My intention could be to gain a "minor advantage" from the fact that my prey has differently backed cards, and I was under the impression that such a "minor advantage" was ok (based on the tournament rules).



Please note that this is a theoretical discussion. There is no need or point in calling me a cheater for asking these questions. I'm not aiming this disclaimer to anyone in particular, but for all who thinks about posting something in those ways.
