I think you are confusing lynching with shaming. The two are very different.

I don't see why people should be against it unless you practice that yourself. There are many websites that lynches out the buyers with bad behaviors, and they wouldn't continue to exist all these years if there's something wrong with it I think.
Have you ever been lynched yourself for something you didn't do ? Because it's what happen from time to time with wall of shame : some innocent guy is lynched, either because he share the same name, out of spite, or or some other reason.
Avoiding and correcting errors on wall of shame is something very hard. That's why some people are less than thrilled by that.
(the sites you cite usually have a high percent of slander or erroneous records ; but people just don't care)

Edited lynching for slandering. I wanted to use the same word as James Lin, but it may not be the more appropriate, since nobody talk about literal lynching.

I can confirm that this Ebayer also scammed myself. All purchases he made during November and December have been charged back by his credit card company. Not only have I lost a few hundred dollars for cards that were posted and received (he has left positive feedback), but the credit card company charged $10 per transaction for the charge backs, so I'm out a further $120.
On a positive note I am extremely thankful and appreciative of the hundreds of members of this community who are regular, honest customers of mine. Thank you!

This a thread for calling out buyers, traders, or vendors that should be avoided because they may attempt to cheat you or steal from you.

Yeah, I was using words that are harsher than what it should be.. I changed it, but I'm just really mad that people will do this practice on regular basis and get away with it.

I am too actually. But my own experience on thoses kind of event have showed me that it's actually pretty hard and time-consuming to pull off without nasty side effect.

Hi Steve working for a European credit card company (so I appreciate chargebacks might work slightly differently US//Oz but the scheme rules from MasterCard/VISA are basically the same) I would bring the positive feedback/other records to the attention of the CC company as this is first person (i.e. customer) fraud and they have no right of chargeback in these cases. The schemes are really strict on what can and can't be charged back and first person fraud is not one of them, tehy should be blocking his account!
Likewise Prune/David Litwin.
