Sure, but neither will they
. And sometimes, it is good enough

One of my 'sleaziest' decks still packs a decent pile of combat and if I feel I need the fight more than the successful bleed, I stop playing stealth.

I prefer to win. And I play combat. And Izaak said " But then why aren't combat decks so good?" And I say: combat decks are good. I think I could oust a non-combat Girls deck with my Brujah Alastor (need some minor modification).
I don't think that combat decks are weaker than any other kind of deck v:tes has to offer.

Maybe they aren't.
The TWDA, however, strongly suggests they are. (*)
I feel rush/combat decks need a favorable metagame/table to perform well, whereas bleed and vote variants can function well in pretty much any environment and are therefore inherently stronger.
(*) This of course wildly depends on what you define as a combat deck. I have an AAA Alastor deck in the TWDA myself that I wouldn't qualify as a combat deck, even though it contains a bunch of red cards.

I think that combat decks are very difficult to play right. You need great mastery to make the right decisions. And even then you could miss the right point to swing the balance to your favour. That does not mean combat decks are weak. But if you want to be sure to score some VPs without great effort you'll take an easier deck.
In addition many players are scared by a combat deck so much that they often like it if it leaves the table.
I think these two points are reasons that so few combat decks win tournaments.

Sure. I do too. I also feel that, as a player playing with a combat deck, it is best strategy to oust them first, no matter where they sit, before they make too much pool and/or vampires for you to deal with later on.
Plus, i hate the engine on which they run on. If there is ever one change that i feel is needed to the vtes rules (and i think they are great, even the pentex and Una) is that a player can NEVER have more than 2 master phases.
