Shattering the Gate Concept was created by Baaliprimogen
Hi.
Has anyone made a usable Shattering the Gate deck?
I want to make one, and I did (look at the end of the post). I find it quite difficult to do. Only one out per round and by a 9+ cap Baali. And everybody wants to remove it. Here are some thoughts about strategy:
Shattering the Gate possibilities:
-Huitzla +master phase to use Tend the flock
-Nergal with AUS block
-Kiasyd supp with Farie Wind
-Setite supp with AUS and corruption
-Bupe (gr4) +1 int
-Amisa (gr2), may tap vamp above 7

Shattering the Gates will only work if you're playing Enkil Cog.
Play Shattering the Gates during predator's turn, during your turn, and during prey's turn. Hopefully, you'll manage to lockdown some of your prey's vampires for 1 turn, so that she can't burn the Gate.
lockdown options: Barrenness on the 6-7 caps. Pentex on the others. Mind Numb. Mind Rape. any blood attrioning cards (rushing / stealing blood allies, Society of Leopold, ..)
Blocking possibilties: Unleash Hell's Fury, Carlton. Auspex / Animalism (animalism is better, because of Sense the Savage Way) ; Fortitude / Thaumaturgy / Serpentis brings the untaps.
EDIT: Here's what I'd do:
Crypt: Nergal or Cybele... I guess Cybele's extra MPA can be more useful than Nergal's blood reducing ability.
I'm going with Cybele. Huitzi would probably be quite similar

That doesn't mean Unleash Hell's Fury nor Enkil Cog shouldn't be used, but it isn't necessary to build a wall deck to use it.

For having tried it a few times, this is a wrong assumption. Not everyone with want to burn the shatter the gates, or have the possibility to do it.And everybody wants to remove it.
That doesn't mean Unleash Hell's Fury nor Enkil Cog shouldn't be used, but it isn't necessary to build a wall deck to use it.

I haven't done much with it, but I think people who just read the card don't realize how hard it is to burn the cards. I knew I could pull it off when my predator didn't try to get the Edge on the key turn.
Anyway, I see two paths for making it work. First is to defend the cards so that you actually give shattered counters out. The problem I see with this is that it's only likely to help your prey since you aren't putting as much pressure on as other decks. In theory, if you survive long enough, everyone else explodes. I'm not that confident on the surviving long enough plan. The second path is to put a lot of pool pressure on one's prey so that people fall in order. While this isn't likely to ensure that people get shattered, it has the advantage that you don't need to shatter them to win. In truth, my Shatter the Gates efforts have been to play the card as a distraction from doing better things.

Agreed. Nergal is quite good in that kind of role because he can multi act, bleed your prey a normal way and also play some Shattering the Gates for the mid-game.
