I disagree. He's a somewhat lacking splash vampire, but a great vamp to build a deck around. So, either take 4 or none at all, imho.including my only copy of oliver thrace seems like a great idea

If that's all the S:CE you see, I would just focus on playing efficient combat and blocking. A couple Telepathic Tracking is good, but don't go overboard. There are a lot of good Carna decks in the Tournament Winning Deck Archive:
www.thelasombra.com/decks/twd.htm
Here's one version of a Tremere deck I've made the finals at tournaments with a couple of times:
www.secretlibrary.info/index.php?deck=view&id=7830
The deck doesn't need to have those exact cards, that's just something I playtested the hell out of and it seems to work.

Thoughts Betrayed works great against combat ends (the BAAAANE of Thaumaturgy combat) and strike based hit-back like Breath of the Dragon. It also trumps Aid from Bats which gives you the edge over animalism presses.
Also, it should be easy for thaumaturgy to compensate for the blood cost of Thoughts Betrayed.
Obviously it's not an auto include, and I haven't tried it yet properly, but it's worth looking into. Start with Thoughts Betrayed and Trap away - see how it goes if your meta is not combat heavy and survives basically on Combat Ends and Dodges.
my meta (not that we play) has 2 decks with combat ends, one with 5 majesties and one with a few form of mist.
i only have 2 telepathis tracking and it seems like a great card for dealing with combat ends, also nice is inf giving 2nd round manouver
more telepathic tracking would be amazing
i have many copies of uta

You can do fairly effective bleed deck from Tremere also, which obviously focuses on dom/tha and ignores auspex. Here is an example one that I had which I got to the finals of a tournament with also, but was foiled by imbued in the finals. I used group 1-2 crypt, but you can probably do similar with about any grouping.
Crypt:
1x Brooke
1x Jing Wei
1x Sarah Cobbler
1x Kurt Strauss
1x Hannigan
1x Merrill Molitor
1x Aisling Sturbridge
2x Reverend Blackwood
1x Astrid Thomas
2x Bryan Van Duesen
Library: 90
Master: 15
1x Academic Hunting Ground
5x Blood Doll
3x Dominate
2x Dreams of the Sphinx
3x Sudden Reversal
1x University Hunting Ground
Action: 14
2x Dominate Kine
8x Govern the Unaligned
4x Scouting Mission
Action Modifier: 29
9x Bonding
4x Foreshadowing Destruction
9x Mirror Walk
7x Seduction
Combat: 14
8x Movement of the Mind
6x Theft of Vitae
Reaction: 18
3x On The Qui Vive
10x Redirection
5x Wake with Evening's Freshness

Ok, that selection of cards is pretty limited. You're looking at basically group 3-4. Just for reference, here's the list of 3rd ed player's kit cards:
www.vekn.net/index.php/card-lists/179-players-kit
You may want to just go with something similar to the "deck bashing" decks, modified to work with the cards you have.
www.thelasombra.com/dbc/dbc.htm
This is the easiest to make and win with of the 3rd edition decks IMO:
www.thelasombra.com/dbc/ector_malk_anti.htm
By the way, I realized this thread is in fact in the correct section of the forum, sorry about that.

since i have lots and lots and lots of THA and tremere! i was thinking i could simply make 2 tremere decks, one for crazy shit and one that is guarenteed to simply work consistently.
how does 6x hector trelane and 6x uta kovacs sound?
lots of rush, lots of second round, some theft, 3x blood fury, 5 or 6 telepathic tracking.
can the idea work?
i dunno why but i just love hector trelane, I THINK HE IS SEXY
